Our Peppertree kennel name was recorded in 1974.
My exposure to the Australian Shepherd's working ability came from using a "Blue Dog", to load cattle.
Appropriately, his name was Blue and his daughter Calico became our family member
and livestock handler for 13 years. Her daughter Misty sired by Hayes Blue, went on to become a loving companion to my parents and a successful conformation competitor.

A background in horses, which has included exhibiting competitive cutting horses has proven to be a valuable tool, for it provided me with an understanding for the need for correct structure for performance and an eye for beauty.

A wonderful example of one of our first breedings with our Hayes Blue was Deleon's Baron, foundation sire of Somercrest Kennels. Our next breedings were with our CH Free Flight of Sunnybrook CD Pepper, a son of CH Little Abner of Flintridge and CH Fromer's Free Breeze. They produced ASCA Hall of Fame and AKC HOF CH Peppertree's Free Dawn the foundation of Propwash Kennels and CH Inspiration of Sunnybrook CD, of Gefion Hall.
Peppertree is still striving to produce intelligent, sound, individuals able to compete in many venues.
